SLEMBG Summer School 2022: Fostering EU-Ukraine Educational & Media Cooperation

The “Sustainable Language Education: Bridging the Gap Between EU-Ukraine” project includes a vital component aimed at enhancing the educational & media landscape in Ukraine through dedicated summer schools. The first out of three planned summer schools, held in July 2022, serves as a dynamic platform for undergraduate and Ph.D. students, as well as media and civil society representatives, to engage with European educational standards and practices for success and sustainble cross-sectoral cooperation.
The primary objective of the SLEMBG-2022 summer school is to provide intensive training in sustainable language education, media literacy, and e-democracy, tailored to the unique needs of the participants. By focusing on these areas, the program aims to equip 50 attendees from different corners of Ukraine with the necessary skills to access and utilize EU informational resources effectively.
This initiative not only enhances individual competencies but also fosters a deeper understanding of European values and democratic principles among Ukrainian participants in the challenging times of the Russian war against Ukraine.
Summer school session is designed to be highly interactive and immersive, featuring seminars and practical activities led by experts from both Ukraine and the EU universities. Participants are encouraged to engage in discussions, collaborative projects, and hands-on exercises that promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This approach ensures that attendees not only gain theoretical knowledge but also practical experience in applying what they have learned.
Moreover, the summer school plays a crucial role in building networks between Ukrainian and European academic and professional communities. These connections are essential for promoting ongoing collaboration and exchange of best practices, further strengthening the ties between Ukraine and the EU. The program also emphasizes the importance of academic integrity and ethical practices, preparing participants to become responsible and informed citizens who can contribute positively to their communities and post-war rebuilding of Ukraine.
We believe that all the summer schools within the “Sustainable Language Education: Bridging the Gap Between EU-Ukraine” project will be a cornerstone of the initiative, providing invaluable educational opportunities that support Ukraine’s integration into the European educational and cultural space. By fostering a deeper understanding of EU standards and values, this and future summer schools will contribute to the long-term development and democratization of Ukrainian society.
