May 15, 2024 marked an important event within the activities of Jean Monnet Module
“Sustainable Language Education and Media: Bridging the Gap Between EU-Ukraine” (SLEMBG) – International Scientific Practical Conference “Sustainable Language Education – Bridging the gap between EU-Ukraine”. The focus topics of the conference were new educational trends in the EU, the role of media in times of world’s crises and wars, the system of fundamental EU values in the new war context in Ukraine.
The keynote speakers – Iryna Biskub, Tomash Zygmunt, Anna Danylchuk and Marta Sydoruk – delivered consistent reports specifying the central topics of the course as well as offering new dimensions and perspectives for the implementation of and dissemination of project results. Conference participants, among them professors of Applied Linguistics department Oksana Rohach, Olena Karpina, Alla Khomyak, Elina Rozvod offered various thought provoking presentations on the EU-related topics.
Among other participants were PhD students and researchers, students of the faculty of foreign language, civil servants and local policy makers.
An essential part of the conference program was dedicated to the presentation of the new examples of teaching materials representing the new sustainable approach to language education, the one that was strongly facilitated by the SLEMBG course:
